The Bible |
What could we do without the Book No other tells us of our Lord, What could we do were we without Were we without the letters of If Genesis is humbug, If we should try to live our lives We couldn't know that God will be We shouldn't know God gave His Son, We shouldn't know Christ rose again— We ne'er had deemed He'd be the Friend That ne'er would He to any child That He Who healed the sick, the lame, To Him, that we might be forgiven We ne'er had dreamed Salvation is The Bible is a gallery It warns against temptations It's like a cordite rifle It is of heaven's narrow way It gives the words of prophets, It castigates the evil, and 'Tis a history of the godly, It prophesies the Coming Be sure, in their originals, Would you be brave and noble? Divorce yourself from humbug, Don't be like Jackie Horner, It's God's own patent medicine, Mind! you must obey it, Read it in the morning, |

Jesus Only |
I'm going to live for Jesus, I've done it, Hallelujah! I'm such a great big sinner, My heart's so full of rapture, I think I'll copy Levi, Oh, won't it be just "ripping" There is no Friend like Jesus, No soul in all creation Oh! the joy of knowing Jesus, And yet I'd sooner serve Him I love to fight for Jesus Such as neglect Christ's ord'nance I loved Christ's ordination, He asked that once of Peter, The Gospel of Christ's salvation The secret of power is simple, Christ commissioned His Spirit He'll brook no interference; I'll walk in His blest freedom, Some Christians call me foolish, "He hadn't any talents, I'd like to hear Him say that, Some stay at home with good reason But Christ was kissed in the garden There are some who when told to go As tho' they know better than He! Some want to live too long, For Jesus is my life, If we really did believe Who knows Christ as his Master I know very little myself, Oh! it's good to belong to Jesus, Away with hesitation! Fly with Christ's salvation JESUS IS OUR MESSAGE! Come forth, ye men of Britain, |

"Chutney" |
I want to be like Jesus, Forsaking all His glory, We human fools rejected, By men despised, rejected; I'll live and die for Jesus, I will not be a mannikin! I will not be a skulker! I'd sooner be a sceptic, If I to others preached and taught I wouldn't say to others "Go, I wouldn't like to criticize I wouldn't be a talker, Such things may please old women, For the soldier's heart is simple, The offerings of a soldier His words are few and simple, For his commands are rugged, For his men are dead sure certain For their Captain's "Go" means "Come," Thus Jesus leads the way, I'm going to stake my all for Christ For how can man live better So I'll live and die for Jesus, |

Christian's Delight On Earth and In Heaven |
Now Christ's command is simple, Christ hadn't any favourites; So I'll go and face the music I'll leave the ninety-nine behind, The way may not be easy, But what of that? My Jesus It may mean death or poverty, I wouldn't want to live at all And in some fierce, hot battle, But when I walk the golden street. The crown that Jesus won and gave And if it won't drop off I'll cast And then I think I'll weep and weep And that I can't go back to earth, And then I'll shout with rapture And then the joys of meeting My word! what introductions I'll want to hear from Jonah How Daniel felt descending What Nebby thought about the three And what they felt like when they found We understand that Nebby got We need a few like Shadrach, Meshach, They'd say we were behind the times, The image then was on the plain, Elijah's thoughts on Carmel And what the Apostles felt and thought, The comical grimaces of The thoughts of Simon Peter And why poor Rhoda's mistress thought The faces of the Sadducees, For well they knew that Peter It must have been as though they saw Their nonplussed looks, when Peter told And when the oil began to boil, In heaven no amusement? The joy will be without alloy Enthusiastic service for All hearts will glow with rapture, |

Without Excuse |
Our Saviour has given commandment The doors of the world lie wide open; Christians were never so numerous, Have we waxed fat like Jeshurun? When has the job been so easy? How shall we look when our Saviour If George the Fifth's soldiers or sailors Then why should the Soldiers of Jesus Come! Let's stop our vain talk of traditions, Let us cease to do our own pleasure, Let's abolish our tame stonewalling, For Christ was a resolute hitter, They didn't play selfish in those good days, When a man got out he ran, not walked, They didn't wear pads or gloves those days, Now if we played the game like that, Christ to be sure would go with us; So let's settle now and once for all, |

God's D. D. |
Old Daniel was a Dreadnought! He didn't speak behind folks' backs, He neither cared for place nor power, Whatever God at any time Dan didn't say "Belshazzar, Sire, Dan didn't sugar-coat his pills, Old Daniel ran a college once Dare to be a Dreadnought, Dare to be a Dreadnought, Dare to be a Dreadnought, Dare to be a Dreadnought, Make a bold confession, |
